The Lime Rock Community Garden completed its first summer season in 2012. Since then, the garden produced a rich and prolific harvest that treated church members, friends, Sunday visitors, and Saturday food pantry guests.

The garden has been the product of some dedicated arms, backs, and legs in the building, planting, watering, and harvesting of the garden. The church also received two grants for the purposes of building a community garden with raised garden beds to make garden work more accessible for all ages and abilities.

Besides the flavorful produce, the garden has also become a beautiful enhancement to the already attractive grounds that Lime Rock folks enjoy every time we pull up to the church. The garden and the adjacent Lime Rock outdoor chapel together express a meaningful simplicity, reflective of the LRBC style of worship and congregational life.

All are welcome to join our small force of gardeners. We are often looking for consistent “waterers” to commit to 20-30 minutes once a week during the summer months. We also need volunteers for more occasional gardening or harvesting. Church members and guests are invited to enjoy the garden-chapel area for gardening, quiet meditation, or a peaceful picnic garnished with fresh vegetables on the chapel benches.
